A Historical Heritage of Kyiv
In2011,Skyform Studiocompleted therestoration of the cast iron Termen FountaininMariinsky Park, Kyiv. This fountain is not just an element of the city’s landscape but asymbol of an era, deeply connected to the history ofwater supply, engineering, and 19th-century artistic aesthetics.
TheTermen Fountainsare aseries of cast iron fountainscreated in thelate 19th centuryat thecast iron foundry of Alexei Termen, designed by theKyiv architect Alexander Schille.The first fountain was installed in1871onTsarskaya (European) Square, and later, in1899–1901, six more identical fountains were produced,adorning different parts of Kyiv.At that time, these fountains served not only adecorative purposebut alsoprovided water for the city’s residents, carriage drivers, and their horses.
